David Foster has extensive experience in both landscape architecture and planning. He has provided design and site planning expertise on more than 3000 institutional, governmental, commercial, and residential projects, and is noted for his thorough knowledge of Kansas-hardy plant materials.

He is particularly interested in improving the urban forest, and in sustainable design. Good landscape architecture not only creates beautiful and functional outdoor places — it can enhance energy efficiency, reduce pesticide and water use through the selection of native and climate-adapted plants, improve stormwater management, and positively impact other aspects of environmental sustainability.

David has worked on more than 60 Comprehensive Development Plans for Kansas communities, as well as projects such as streetscapes and parks. Such large public projects demand significant public input.   David works with both government staff and community groups, guiding people through the planning process. An accomplished facilitator, he has conducted public meetings and planning workshops   in communities across the state.
